Our Services
ICS coordinates and pays for the following services for ICS members:
Adult Day Health Care
This is a facility based day program that people typically attend several days a week for half or all day sessions. The program includes: nursing, food and nutrition, rehabilitation therapies, recreation, dental services and transportation.
Audiology and Hearing Aids
This includes any examinations and equipment for people with hearing impairment.
Dental Care
Routine dental services such as preventive care, extractions and dentures are provided by dentists.Your ICS care manager will work with you to coordinate more extensive dental work, such as periodontics.
Home Care and Skilled Services
ICS will authorize and arrange for whatever level of home care support is medically necessary: skilled home care (i.e. nursing, therapies, and home health aide level care), personal care assistance (home attendants) or consumer directed personal assistants.
If you primarily need assistance with personal care activities of daily living, like bathing, dressing, feeding, meal preparation, or housekeeping, the ICS Paraprofessional Member Services Support staff will coordinate this for you.
Home Delivery of Meals
ICS can arrange for home delivered meals for members who have less than four hours daily of home care aide services.
Medical Equipment and Orthotics
In addition to wheelchairs, ICS covers all durable medical equipment that is medically necessary and ordered by a doctor. This includes hospital beds, mattresses, bathroom safety equipment and ambulatory aides.
Orthotics are appliances and devices such as braces, cervical collars, halo, lumbar-sacral, humeral, hip abduction, and knee orthoses. Orthopedic footwear includes shoes, shoe modification or shoe additions typically used to accommodate or prevent a physical deformity or range of motion malfunction in a diseased or injured part of the ankle or foot or to integral part of a brace.
Medical Supplies, Nutritional Supplements and Hearing Aid Batteries
The medical supplies that ICS will pay for include; Medical and surgical supplies (including gauze pads, bandages and diapers), Hearing aid batteries, and enteral supplements (ex. Ensure) and parenteral supplements.
Physician and hospital services are not covered by ICS and are billed to Medicaid through fee-for-service.
All Medicare services for the dually eligible are billed direct to Medicare.
Pharmacy Services not covered by ICS are billed to Medicare and/or Medicaid.
Nursing Home Care
ICS covers post acute care, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and respite care in a skilled nursing facility licensed by New York State Department of Health.
Nutrition Services
Assessment and planning of nutritional needs and provision of nutrition education provided by a nutritionist.
Optometry
Optometry services include eye exams, eyeglasses and contacts.
Personal Emergency Response System
PERS is an electronic device that can either be worn by an ICS member or installed in the household to secure help in the event of a physical, emotional or environmental emergency.
Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapies
The ICS Plan offers rehabilitation services, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies (e.g. vision therapy). Services are provided in an ICS member’s home by a certified home health agency or in a licensed rehabilitation facility, hospital outpatient department, or other outpatient facility.
Podiatry, Orthotics and Orthopedic Footwear
Members in need of routine foot care can get services from a podiatrist.
Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory therapy includes application of medical gases, continuous artificial ventilation, intermittent positive pressure, inhalation and related-airway management and member education.
Site-Based Rehabilitation Services
Rehabilitation or therapy services are also offered in medical facilities such as a hospital outpatient department.
Social Day Care
Social Day Programs provide special recreational and therapeutic activities designed to provide socialization. These are usually held in group settings under the auspice of a specialty program or nursing facility.
Social and Environmental Supports
Social and Environmental supports include services and items which support the medical needs of the member. They include items such as home improvements and modifications which support more independent functioning, appliances and assistive devices and independent living skill training.
Transportation
Non-emergency transportation (e.g. public transportation, Access-A-Ride, car service, ambulette, or ambulance) to medical appointments or adult or social day program activities that are part of the member’s care plan.
Fee for Service
You are free to select the providers of your choice for the services covered directly by Medicare and Medicaid fee-for-service, and commercial insurers. Although these services are not paid for by ICS, if you need assistance, your care manager can help you identify appropriate providers, arrange appointments, referrals, and transportation to services that continue to be covered directly by Medicare and Medicaid fee for service and commercial insurers such as:
