Our Social Programs

Finding a community in a city as large as New York is curiously hard.  In a city of millions, you should be able to find some people who you click with. People here are moving fast and do not always have the time to say hello or have a cup of coffee.  If you have a physical disability or are a senior adult, you may feel that the community you had once has changed or is gone or you just don’t fit in anymore.

At ICS we heard our members asking for an opportunity to get together, to learn something, to share their skills with each other, because they needed some people in their lives.  People who know about the challenges of living with a disability or getting older, but that is not all they want to talk about.  People who know that from a wheelchair, you can still sing, laugh, play games, enjoy a silly movie, and help a friend.

For these members, we have a wide array of ongoing Social Programs—art, music, fitness, writing, movies, trips to great places in New York City—and special events, too.  They’re listed below; you can click for fuller descriptions.  A few are open to the public; if that’s the case, that will be indicated.
