Wheelchair Maintenance Workshop
The Wheelchair Maintenance Workshop meets once a week and covers these two areas:
- Maintenance and Repair Education: Training and education is conducted for both power and manual wheelchair care and maintenance. Members have access to a maintenance workshop to perform preventive maintenance, e.g., cleaning the chair, lubricating wheels, tightening nuts and bolts, monitoring battery capacity.
- Repair Services: A wheelchair repair technician visits members in their home to repair chairs as needed. Chairs are typically repaired within the home. When necessary, they are repaired at a shop and typically returned within 48 hours and a loaner chair is provided. A wheelchair repair technician is also available once a week at the ICS office to repair member wheelchairs.
